Report from HFA website! Written by Trevor Jones, HFA Development Committee.

What do Jamie Carragher (Liverpool), Danny Murphy (Fulham) and Daffyd Roberts (Hinton) have in common? Apart from having lost the pace of their younger days, they are passing on their vast knowledge gained from years of experience in the game.
Because of work commitments Daffyd plays infrequently, however, playing for Hinton reserves against Kingstone Rovers he gave a master class at centre-half winning everything in the air and on the ground. Never caught out of position but his biggest most important contribution to the game was the instructions, advice, motivation and encouragement that he gave to his teenage mates as his voice rang out over Broomy Hill. The dying moment of the game saw a deep corner volleyed home by Daffyd coming late at the back post.
It is players like Daffyd Roberts staying in the game to coach players on the pitch who are so valuable. Leading example, always encouraging is so much more effective than any words of wisdom from the technical area. It also gives so much person satisfaction. More should try it.
