Hinton vs Fownhope - Charity Bowl 1st Round

Hinton progressed into the second round of the Charity Bowl after a 3-2 win over Fownhope. Hinton started well when Lewis Davies run with the ball into the Fownhope box where he was brought down. Jody Dawe stepped up to nestle the ball into the back of the net after clipping the post. Moments later Hinton won a free kick on the right hand side of the Fownhope box. Jody Dawe took the kick and provided a deep cross which Steve Cuss managed to head back across goal and inside the far post to give Hinton a comfortable 2-0 lead at half time.

Fownhope came out strongly in the second half and a strong run through the centre of the park from one of the midfielders drew a foul on the edge of the area by Shane Cuss. Stuart Mills struck the resulting free kick over the wall  and straight into the top corner of Jon Hopkin's goal. For 15 minutes Fownhope were the better side and had far more possession until Jody Dawe run the ball into the away side's box and was brought down for Hinton's second penatly of the game. Dawe, once again, stepped up to take the penalty and convincingly tucked it into the back of the net.

With just 10-15 minutes to go Hinton could have been forgiven for thinking that the worst was over after going 2 goals in front but Fownhope had different ideas. A run through the centre caused Hinton problems and when Callum Ditchfield looked to put in a tackle a lucky bobble for the Fownhope forward saw the ball bounce over Ditchfield's leg and gave the striker a free shot at goal which he duely finished.

Fownhope continued to push for the remaining minutes but Hinton held on strongly and secured their passage to the next round.
