Holme Lacy 1 v 4 Hinton  League  1/9/12

Hinton coasted into a 4-0 first half lead after some lacklustre Holme Lacy defending. A delivery from left back Matty Myles allowed Rod Haslam to nod the ball back across the box where Pete Myles nicked in front of the goalkeeper and tuck the ball into the back of the net on the 10 minute mark. An error from a Holme Lacy defender allow Pete Myles to steal the ball just outside the box and slide the ball past the keeper for his second goal of the game.

Joey Dawe picked up an injury early in the first half and had to be replace by Brad Matthews who came on and instantly earned Hinton a penalty after being tripped. Rod Haslam cooly stepped up and powered the ball past the keeper to give Hinton a comfortable 3-0 lead. Another delivery from deep on the left from Matty Myles allowed Haslam to climb above the Holme Lacy defenders and header the ball inside the far post.

Holme Lacy, clearly out performed, resorted to trying to break the play up by using thier physical presence. This almost worked for them when Hinton were forced to play the remaining 30 minutes of the game with 10 men due to other injuries. Hinton invited Holme Lacy to attack more but held off the attack well up until the dying minutes of the game when Steve Cuss was judged to have brought down the Lacy striker who slotted home his own penalty kick.

Mike Marsden picked up the Man of the Match award as Hinton finished the game winning 4-1.
