Presteigne 18s 1-1 Hinton18s

The final bus trip for the season for the 18s ended in draw that felt more like a loss as the hosts equalised to a Josh Marchant strike late into the final stages of the Thursday evening game.

The youngsters started strongly and soon tested the Presteigne Keeper with shots from Josh Marchant, Jack Harris and Callum Meale all requiring solid keeping for the scores to remain level at the break. The resumption of play continued to see the home side pegged into their own half until Jake Cooper threaded a fine pass for Callum Meale to chase through to the keeper. Meale rounded the keeper to place a shot only to see a defender clear the ball back to Meale who squared the ball to an advancing Josh Marchant to place into the net

The locals raised their performance, but did little to trouble a solid defence, as Hinton remained in confident mood. Cody Edwards replaced the goal scorer Marchant, Brad Matthews returning from injury to replace Meale and finally Andrew Bromley substituted a tired Joe Griffiths. The changes provided new problems for Presteigne until within the final five minutes a long ball was not met by Liam Keenan correctly and the following clearances also failed as the Presteigne right midfielder closed on the ball and advanced to beat Ed Jackson. This was surprise and against the run of play as Ross Hooper, Dan Wroe, Liam Keenan and Rory Clarke had covered successfully all the previous attacks to keep Ed Jackson unoccupied for the majority of the game.

The late goal stirred the visitors who continued to create the better chances, but could not find that winning goal to cap an good all round performance.
