Hinton 1-0 Lads Club Res 16/3/13

Hinton continued their good form against a strong Lads Club side who placed many first team players into the side after their West Midland's fixture was postponed due to poor weather conditions. Hinton could easily have been downhearted at hearing this news however it spurred them onto a battling victory. Hinton defended solidly throughout the game and Lads Club only managed a couple shots from comfortably outside the box. Hinton outplayed Lads Club in every department and created several good goal scoring opportunities but all went astray until a cross from the right found Jon Davies on the back post who unconventionally put the ball into the Lads Club goal off his standing foot to give Hinton a second half lead. Lads Club pushed many players forward during the final 15 minutes of the game to try to get a point however Hinton's goal was solidly defended and they received a well earned win.

Pegasus Reserves 1-2 Hinton 2/3/13

Hinton's winning run continued this weekend against a strong Peggy side. Both sides had chances to score early on but neither were able to take them. Dave McCutcheon played a ball over the top of the Peggy defence and Tomlinson went chasing after it. The keeper came rushing out but Tomlinson was quickest and managed to round the keeper before tucking the ball away from just outside the area.

Both keepers were kicking the ball deep into their opponents half which resulted in both defences playing deep back lines. This in turn meant that few chances presented themselves. However, Peggy earned themselves a corner which was drifted into the back post. Hopkins misjudged the flight of the ball and could only get finger tips to it and flicked it onto an oncoming Peggy attacker who inadvertantly redirected the ball into the Hinton goal.

Both teams went into the break level. Peggy failed to create a clear opportunity throughout the second half and Hinton managed to punish that when, on the 70 minute mark, Pete Myles went through the Peggy midfield and struck a powerful shot from 20 yards which swerved past the ailing keeper. Hinton continued to defend well and held onto to record their 4th consecutive win
